Zpool mirror split?

My Antsle has 2 x 500 GB SSD. I'm currently using approx 80% of available drive space. I know all the benefits of zpool mirroring, but I'm using this machine for development and simply need more space, at least for the time being.

Can I split the zpool mirror and have a single 1TB drive without messing up my current antlets? I've googled and found posts like this: Chris'sWiki :: blog/linux/ZFSSplitPoolExperience (utoronto.ca)

I'm new to Zpools & don't want to totally mess up the machine. Can anyone offer antsle specific zpool commands?
