I'm attempting to simply use a virtual nic.
With any Centos or Debian vm (KVM or LXC) I can create and attache a virtual nic (br0). However, once I configure the port in the VM I can no longer use the VM. I can access the VM on the "local" network (10.1.1.x). When on the VM, the virtual nic cannot get a DHCP address from the external network. If I statically set the IP address I cannot even ping the gateway.
It appears that the virtual nic is simply not connected to anything.
ideas?
